Professor Stephen Farnsworth of the University of Mary Washington in Virginia said that President Biden is not interested in delaying passage of his Covid relief package in order to try to secure a few Republican votes in Congress.
As President Obama learned when he tried to pass an econmomic stimulus package in 2009, Republicans are far less interested in compromising with a Democratic president than they purport to be, Farnsworth said.
