Professor Stephen Farnsworth of the University of Mary Washington said that the Trump administtration made a mistake in its rush to fire the deputy FBI director. Andrew McCabe, the fired deputy, will likely win a personnel appeal and/or a lawsuit contesting the procedures used to dismiss him.
“Make no mistake about it, this is about President Trump getting even,” Farnsworth said of the dismissal.
McCabe, along with his boss, former FBI director James Comey, had been investigating the Trump campaign over possible collusion with the Russians. Trump fired Comey last year.
