Net Gain Of Felons Voting in VA Is Not Huge But Could Matter In Close Elections (WMAL)

Professor Stephen Farnsworth of the University of Mary Washington said that the net result for restoring the voting rights of felons in Virginia won’t change the results in most statewide elections. “You have to remember that a lot of these people won’t vote, and that a good number of those who do vote will vote Republican,” Farnsworth said.

Farnsworth predicted that Democrats would gain several thousands votes overall, but noted that every election for governor since 1989 has been decided by a larger, usually much larger, margin.
