Farnsworth Discusses New Presidency Book on C-Span

Stephen Farnsworth, professor of political science and director of the University’s Center for Leadership and Media Studies, discussed his new book, “Presidential Communication and Character: White House News Management from Clinton and Cable to Twitter and Trump” at the Fall for Book Festival, held at George Mason University in Fairfax, VA. Tradition of AGs Stepping Down to Run for Governor Dates to 1950’s (WVTF)

Stephen Farnsworth at the University of Mary Washington says that tradition is becoming increasingly relevant.

“People expect less partisan performance from their attorney generals than they sometimes get. But that’s one of those norms that’s really changed as politics has become much more a process of trench warfare.”

Farnsworth and Gardner Research Presented at Conference

Stephen Farnsworth, professor of political science and director of the University’s Center for Leadership and Media Studies, and Noah Gardner, a UMW 2018 honors graduate in political science, are co-authors of a research  paper, “Late Night Political Humorists and the Donald Trump Presidency,” presented at the Northeastern Political Science Association Conference in Montréal, Quebec, Canada.

Farnsworth Presents Research on U.S. Midterm Elections

Stephen Farnsworth, Professor of Political Science and Director of the University’s Center for Leadership and Media Studies, recently delivered an invited research presentation entitled, “The Trump Presidency in a Divided America: A Midterm Assessment,” at the International Conference on Trump, Canada and the World after the Midterms Elections. The conference was held at the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM).
