“I think that the idea that Chesterfield was going to be a blue county was undermined by the elections on Tuesday,” says Stephen Farnsworth, a political science professor at the University of Mary Washington. “If you think of Chesterfield as having three really competitive districts [the 27th, 63rd and 66th], Republicans were 3-0 in those districts. That’s a pattern that reflects the statewide outcome.”
