Governor-elect Focuses on Experience With Early Cabinet Picks (WSET-TV, Lynchburg)

Professor Stephen Farnsworth of the University of Mary Washington said that the governor-elect is wise to place a premium on experience when selecting cabinet nominees.

“I think that sometimes the Trump administration puts itself in a challenging position when it puts people who are loyal, but maybe not as experienced in their fields of expertise in these cabinet positions,” Farnsworth said. “You’re not really seeing that with the Spanberger choices. You’re looking at people who are experienced policy hands of many years of experience, and that’s likely to generate a more successful policy-making.”
