“It is in some ways really absurd, and maybe tragic from the point of view of Ukrainians, that for so long so many of the Republicans were doing everything they could to undermine Ukraine, and this was from President Trump on down,” said Stephen Farnsworth, professor of political science at the University of Mary Washington in Virginia.
