“In some ways it’s really best to think of it as two speeches, the first 15 to 20 minutes where he was talking about the assassination attempt, the tribute to the fallen firefighter,” said Stephen Farnsworth, professor of political science at the University of Mary Washington. “Those sorts of comments really suggest a different narrative to what comes later.”
