“The Constitution of the United States is very specific about the conditions under which a person has to be eligible to be president and the list says you have to be born in the United States, you have to be thirty-five years old, you have to be a long time resident of the United Stated. It says nothing about whether you are a convicted felon. So Donald Trump is still within his rights to run for president with the conviction in place,” said Stephen Farnsworth, professor of political science at the University of Mary Washington.
