Virginia sees surge in early voting, mostly among likely Democratic voters (Washington Post)

“It requires a much heavier lift on Election Day to get everyone to the polls than if a party had banked a lot of voters ahead of time,” said Stephen Farnsworth, a political scientist at the University of Mary Washington. “Democrats learned this lesson a while ago, but Republicans are struggling to catch up.”

Dr. Farnsworth is the author or co-author of nine books on the presidency, the mass media, public opinion and journalism.
