University of Mary Washington political professor Stephen J. Farnsworth pointed out that voter turnout in primaries is usually low. But he said the June 9 primary for the district covering may be different.
“Both campaigns are being very aggressive by knocking on doors and getting voters interested,” Farnsworth said.
“This is a serious challenge” to Howell, he said. “It’s clear from the investment the Howell campaign has made that they think Stimpson is a candidate to be taken seriously.”
