“I do think the public is entitled to know as much as possible about figures who are seeking to represent them in public life. It is very clear that Donald Trump, the former president, has defined dramatically downward what is acceptable behavior for the people in public life, but voters are free to choose whether or not this is going to bother them when they go to the ballot,” said Stephen Farnsworth, professor of political science at the University of Mary Washington.
