“This debate is absolutely vital for both of these campaigns,” said Stephen Farnsworth, professor of political science at the University of Mary Washington. “In the case of the vice president, she’s not as well known as Donald Trump or Joe Biden, and so part of this will be an introduction to a lot of voters… For Trump, the stakes are also very high. It’s pretty clear that he’s been off his game in the last three weeks.”
