Farnsworth, a political science professor at the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, Va., told me, “The result in Virginia suggests that the Republican effort to block expanding voter turnout is probably not the best place to focus. Making it easier for voters to participate helps both parties. That’s the lesson from Virginia.”
