Professor Stephen Farnsworth of the University of Mary Washington in Virginia said that the impeachment prosecutors are not just trying to convince Republican senators Donald Trump should be convicted and barred from future government office. The prosecutors are also trying to present a clear case to the nation -- and the future -- about what happened when President Trump tried to overturn the 2020 election that he lost, Farnsworth said.
