Trump’s Problematic Convention (CJAD Radio, Montreal)

Professor Stephen Farnsworth of the University of Mary Washington said that Donald Trump’s convention speech was unusually dark and negative for a political convention, where candidates often compete to be optimistic about the nation’s future. Candidates usually also pivot towards the ideological center to win over swing voters who are not drawn to highly partisan appeals, Farnsworth said.

“It is like he is still running in the primaries,” Farnsworth said.

The Republican convention segment is 22 minutes into the program.
