Professor Stephen Farnsworth of the University of Mary Washington said that Republican Party officials were wise to meet with candidate Donald Trump this week. Trump’s strength in many of the early nomination contests demonstrates that the party has to figure out a way to live with Trump if he becomes the nominee and to figure out a way to convince Trump not to undermine the party if someone else becomes the nominee.
