Professor Stephen Farnsworth of the University of Mary Washington said that Republicans have been running attack ads about sanctuary cities in Virginia, a state that outlaws them, should not be surprised when Democrats first back with their own misleading advertisements in the race for governor. “If you dish it out, you can expect to receive it,” Farnsworth said.
