Professor Stephen Farnsworth of the University of Mary Washington said that President Trump’s rough first week comes as a result of not hiring enough experienced governmental hands and not paying enough attention to the advice of those experienced government workers he did hire. His low public approval numbers, below 40 percent, are far, far below the approval ratings of the last five presidents when they took office, Farnsworth said.
