President Trump's decision to back strong gun control measures in a meeting with Congressional leaders Wednesday is a dramatic reversal from his previously pro-gun rhetroic, said Stephen Farnsworth, professor of political science at the University of Mary Washington. Trump's new proposals will not win the support of all that many Republicans, and the president will likely walk away from these pro-gun positions after further conversations with Republicans and representatives of the National Rifle Association, Farnsworth said.
