Professor Stephen Farnsworth of the University of Mary Washington said that Donald Trump’s outreach to minority voters, which include a trip to Mexico last week and an African-American church in Detroit last weekend, are exactly what presidential candidates should be doing to try to win over wary voters. But Farnsworth said that Trump’s divisive commentary may make it tough for him to change minds of minority voters, who routinely favor Democrats by large margins in presidential elections.
