Professor Stephen Farnsworth of the University of Mary Washington said that Donald Trump’s Supreme Court nominee is a highly qualified conservative choice for the high court. If confirmed, the nominee would not dramatically change the orientation of the court, which is divided between conservatives and liberals. If the court experiences another vacancy during the next four years, that is when Trump’s appointment could push the court in a more conservative direction, Farnsworth said.
