Professor Stephen Farnsworth of the University of Mary Washington said that President Trump may struggle with international resistance to his plans to inflict economic pain on Iran. China and India, in particular, may be very interested in obtaining Iranian oil despite US objections, Farnsworth said.

"These sanctions are likely to be very leaky -- just like last time," Farnsworth said.
