Professor Stephen Farnsworth of the University of Mary Washington said that the US Senate is struggling to come up with a health care plan that can secure the support of 50 of the 52 Republican senators. Every time the legislation cuts more deeply into the Affordable Care Act, the moderates abandon the plan. Every time the legislation moves towards the center, the conservatives object, Farnsworth said. “Where this ends is anyone’s guess,” he said.
