Virginia a good test for presidential campaigns, political operatives say (Richmond Times-Dispatch)

Virginia’s divergent regions and rapidly changing demographics make the state a good test case for 2016 presidential campaigns, say two veteran operatives of state and national politics.

Tucker Martin, who served as communications director for Gov. Bob McDonnell, is now advising America Leads, a Super Pac launched in support of Republican Chris Christie’s presidential bid. Ellen Qualls, director of surrogate communications for President Barack Obama’s 2012 re-election campaign, served as press secretary to Gov. Mark R. Warner, a Democrat.

Stephen Farnsworth, a professor at the University of Mary Washington, moderated a panel with the political veterans Thursday at AP Day at the Capital, held at the Richmond Times-Dispatch.
