Webb: Democrats Must Appeal to all Working People (Free Lance-Star)

white house A University of Mary Washington poll in October showed that 8 percent of likely Virginia voters supported Webb—compared to 27 percent for Clinton.

Stephen Farnsworth, director of the University of Mary Washington’s Center for Leadership and Media Studies, said Webb has a point in his criticism of the Democratic Party. A series of Democratic Senate candidates were not re-elected this year after they failed to focus on working class anxieties, he noted.

“And the considerable frustration polls show with another Clinton candidacy suggests that Webb’s plain-speaking politics may just catch on in places like Iowa and New Hampshire, homes to the first caucus and the first primary,” Farnsworth said in an email.
