While the courts will ultimately rule on the governor’s actions, Gov. Youngkin’s continued participation in the national discourse is a win-win, according to Stephen Farnsworth, professor of political science at the University of Mary Washington.
“If he wins, it boosts his popularity with Republicans, and if he loses, he can still gain favor with the GOP base. The worst thing for a Virginia governor with national ambitions is to be ignored,” Farnsworth noted.
