Professor Stephen Farnsworth of the University of Mary Washington said that the same sort of voters who voted for the U.K. to leave the European Union — older, white residents of industrial regions — fit the profile of American voters who might find the Donald Trump message appealing. The UK vote should be a warning to Hillary Clinton to spend more time and money in the industrial heartland of the US, paying particular attention to the states of Pennsylvania, Ohio and Wisconsin, he said.
