Stephen Farnsworth, a political science professor at the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, Va., said there will be ramifications in the United States. Nobody knows what the U.K.’s future terms of trade with the rest of Europe will be and very few are likely to make big investments in the U.K. until there is more clarity, he said.
