Stephen Farnsworth, a political science professor at UMW, said he was sad the student-organized debate won’t happen, but hopes to have others in the future. Last year, about a hundred people attended a debate at the school between U.S. Rep. Rob Wittman, R–1st District, and his two opponents.
“It’s a great service to our students . . . because they can get a chance to see a real political debate live and in person,” Farnsworth said.
