Professor Stephen Farnsworth of the University of Mary Washington said that President Obama will likely nominate a candidate for the Supreme Court vacancy in the coming weeks and will push hard to force the Republican majority in the Senate to hold hearings and to vote on the nomination.

Republican senators, particularly those campaigning for re-election in swing states this year, will find it tough to resist the pressure to make a decision on Obama’s nominee. Electorally vulnerable Republican senators to watch include those in New Hampshire, Wisconsin, Illinois, and Ohio, he said.
