Professor Stephen Farnsworth of the University of Mary Washington said that the continued focus on Donald Trump is overshadowing any serious discussion of policy issues among the very large Republican field. Farnsworth said this development is particularly bad news for “back-of-the-pack” candidates who only get media and public attention when they react to something Trump said.
